The Melbourne Male Choir was formed in 1990 and has performed throughout
the metropolitan area, country Victoria, and interstate, in venues such as
Sydney Opera House, Robert Blackwood Hall, Melbourne Concert Hall,
Melbourne Town Hall and Heidelberg and Camberwell Civic Centres.
Led by professional music staff, the choir is a group of men who enjoy singing
together, bringing joy and their love of music to a wide variety of audiences.
As well as performing at its own concerts with well known guest artists, the
choir also frequently participates in choral festivals, as well as singing in church
and open air services. The group regularly performs at Retirement Villages
around Melbourne and has been involved with fundraising concerts on many
occasions.
The choir's extensive repertoire ranges from opera, classical and sacred, as
well as musical theatre, popular and folk songs.
Consequently we are able to prepare a program that suits every occasion.
The choir has weekly rehearsals to produce a high standard of choral singing, ably and enthusiastically led by Chris and Amanda.
These are held each Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Vermont South Community House
Karobran Drive, Vermont South, (opposite the library)
The rehearsals commence 1st week in February and finish mid December, depending on commitments, with a winter break June/July each
year.
Ability to read music, whilst an advantage, is not a necessity. If you enjoy singing and can hold pitch, we would welcome you to our group.
